Abstract | In 1992, the U.S. Department of Education awarded three-year grants to five states and the District of Columbia for the development of curriculum frameworks in mathematics or science for grades K-12 together with new approaches to teacher education, certification, and professional development. This final report on the Dwight D. Eisenhower State Curriculum Frameworks Projects uses the findings from the evaluation of the 16 projects to better understand the implementation of standards-based reform at the state and district levels. Chapters include: (1) "Introduction"; (2) "Progress of the Projects"; (3) "Developing Frameworks and Other Products: Strategies and Issues"; (4) "Quality: A Review of Mathematics and Science Curriculum Frameworks"; (5) "Curriculum Frameworks and State Policy"; (6) "Implementation Strategies for Improving Teacher Practice"; (7) "Impact in the Districts"; and (8) "Conclusions." Appendices include a document list, a list of reviewers and procedures, and state examples. Contains 19 references. (ASK) |
